Not So Week Notes 2025-W24
I doubt I'll write these every week, hence the title, but I wanted to share some notes/thoughts/what I've been up to this week as an experiment!
The following are random thoughts in a random order, mostly related to the past 7 days.
- I started watching Castle and it's a fantastic show. Almost done with Season 1, I really love Nathan Fillion in most stuff I've watched of his. Excited to see how the rest of the show goes, I've heard very good things.
- I also watched all of the show Jury Duty - absolutely hilarious. I can't believe a 2nd season is going to be made, as that feels like a gag you only get away with once, but whatever.
- I've decided to start going for 100% completion on the Halo Master Chief Collection - a feat that supposedly takes 600+ hours...don't know if I'll get anywhere close but I'm going for it till I lose steam. I beat Halo: Reach on Easy difficulty yesterday to start getting a feel for the games again - that was a lot of fun.
- I replaced the nozzle on my 3D printer for the first time in ages (I'm not even sure when I last did it...whoops). So far, it's been running very well and I did a few random prints throughout the week. Now I just need to actually learn to make my own models...
- During my work this week, I discovered a new SQL feature I hadn't played with - Common Table Expressions. This probably isn't news to most hardcore SQL query writers, but I had never used it and thought it was pretty neat.
- I wrote about simulating circuits for the Ham Challenge, and have been playing around with other simulations a bit. SPICE simulation is so neat!
- I've been falling behind on my reading, so I'm setting a goal to finish my current book sometime this week.
- Before sitting down to write these week notes, I did a Parks on the Air activation and wrote a bit about it. It was really nice to go out and play with HF radios again - I haven't had a chance to sit down in front of a rig and spin some knobs in a while!
- I watched the Starsky & Hutch remake movie with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson - it was alright and a good comedy to watch. I also need to get back into watching more movies...but it's all a matter of dividing up my free time well :D
Hopefully these week notes are of interest to some people - but otherwise I'm glad to sit down and reflect on my week for myself. I always love seeing Joel's pop up in my feed reader, so I thought why not write one myself!
